Federal Government announces Public Call for feasibility studies of fourteen airports

On September 1st, 2017, the Brazilian Ministry of Transports, Ports and Aviation announced the Public Call to assess the feasibility and the best model to be adopted concerning the concession of fourteen airports, included in the Investment Partnership Program (PPI) – a federal plan for privatization.

The Airports: The Public Call deals with the feasibility studies of fourteen Brazilian airports in the following cities:  Congonhas – São Paulo (SP); Vitória (ES); Macaé (RJ); Recife (PE); Juazeiro do Norte (CE); João Pessoa (PB); Campina Grande (PB); Aracaju (SE); Maceio – Rio Largo (AL); Várzea Grande (MT); Rondonópolis (MT); Sinop (MT); Alta Floresta (MT); Barra do Garças (MT).

The Studies: The studies must include the technical and economic feasibility of the concession as well as its environmental effects.

Deadline: Stakeholders must state their intention to present feasibility studies until October 1st, 2017 (30 days after the publication of the Notice).  The studies must be completed within 120 days, except Congonhas which has 90 days.

Investment compensation: The Government may compensate the investment made in the production of the selected feasibility study, in case the information is effectively used for the concession process.

Concession Notice and Auction: The Concession Notice should be published in the second quarter of 2018 and the auctions are expected to be held in the third quarter of 2018.
